Nelson Brown is the force behind one of Scotland’s most elite and fashion-conscious salons. Working closely with his hand-picked, expertly trained team, Nelson creates hairdressing that turns heads and leaves clients looking—and feeling—exceptional.

Nelson says:
“I started the business in 2000 after gaining a huge amount of knowledge and experience as Creative Director for Vidal Sassoon in Leeds and London. Dumfries is part of my heritage, and I had a clear vision to make this beautiful corner of Scotland the home of fashion-inspired, technically perfect hairdressing.”

Alongside running his salons, Nelson balances an international career assisting on global fashion runways and leading his Hair Academy—where sharing knowledge is central to his philosophy and passion.

With a career spanning almost 40 years, Nelson has been a nine-time Scottish Hairdresser of the Year finalist, a Men’s British Hairdresser of the Year finalist, and has appeared on GMTV, Lorraine, and Border TV.

For over 25 years, Nelson has assisted backstage at London, New York, Paris, and Milan Fashion Weeks, helping to create show-stopping catwalk hair for international designers. Immersed in trends up to six months ahead, his focus is always on bringing fashion-forward ideas back to the salon & academy—keeping clients inspired, informed, and ahead of the curve and inspiring young hairdressers in creativity.

Nelson educates internationally with pride and purpose. He believes that developing others and sharing what you learn is the future of hairdressing, with his home-grown Academy standing as the heart of that vision.
