FAQ

How does it work? The Nd:Yag Laser emits a light that is absorbed by the pigment (melanin) in the hair. The light energy is converted to heat which kills off the blood supply to the hair follicles. This damage inhibits or delays future hair growth.

Will It hurt? Here at Nelson Brown we use a Breeze Cooling System in conjunction with our Laser to ensure that the procedure is as comfortable as possible. This numbs the skin before, during and after the treatment. Obviously different areas of the body are more sensitive than others but any discomfort is minimised and short lived with some people describing the sensation as being like a pin prick. During your Consultation you will receive a Patch Test so you will get a chance to experience how the Laser feels on your skin.

How many appointments will I need? Agreeing to a course of Laser is the best way to maximise your results. The hair follicle moves through three phases and when it is in the Anagen (growth) phase we are able to use the laser to interrupt the blood supply to the follicle and achieve the best results. The need to schedule treatments to coincide with the growth cycle of the hair follicle is why the sessions are spaced out accordingly. All areas of the body have different hair growth cycles but as a general rule, you’ll need anything between 10 – 12 sessions,  8 to 10 weeks apart with the possibility of the odd yearly top up.

I’m embarrassed to talk about my hair! We understand, many clients feel that way. We realise that unwanted and excessive hair growth can be uncomfortable to talk about.  Whether it’s hereditary, hormonal or due to gender resignment you are guaranteed a discreet, sensitive and confidential service. Although it probably feels like it, you are not alone.

What will the down time be? Our Nd:Yag has been proven to be the safest Laser to use for Hair Removal. Due to the depth of Laser penetration, the risk of pigment damage is nil giving you complete piece of mind and amazing results.

Can I receive treatment during my period?  Yes. There is no reason to cancel your appointment but we would ask you to wear a tampon if you are undergoing Laser treatment on any intimate areas.

How much is it?  Compared to a lifetime of waxing and shaving, Laser is extremely cost effective. With our Memberships starting at as little as £31/session with treatments every 6-12 weeks, comparing that to what you are currently paying to be hair free, we think you’ll be surprised at how affordable Laser Hair Removal actually is.

It might be easier to view Laser Hair Removal as an investment in yourself. By utilising the benefits of the Nd:Yag laser you are taking advantage of a procedure that you will find to be life changing. Adding up the time you will save on a daily basis and always being gym/holiday/date night/life ready, is invaluable.
